少しまえの話になりますがアサヒビール大山崎山荘美術館で開催されていた伝統的な大和絵の技法を現代美術に盛り込んだ画風で知られる山口晃さんの「さて、大山崎 山口晃展」をみに行ってきました。最終日だったため山口晃さんご本人ともお会いすることができ、図録にサインをいただき、お話もしてウキウキで帰ってきました。
これみたかったな〜！
「山口さんはいつものあの口調で永徳についてのんびり語ってられました。10分間という制限時間の中、話がどこに向かうのか！？と見ているこっちはハラハラしどおしでしたが、最後は無事着地。「明日からも絵を描こう！」とキレイにまとめた所で終わりました。なんだかほっ。」
視点・論点「狩野永徳の美」山口 晃
YAMAGUCHI Akira (1969- ) is an artist who has the superb painting technique and unique approach toward paintings. He refers to the traditional Japanese painting like Yamato-e and creates his paintings by combining the contemporary and past elements.
In the exhibition “Now, Oyamazaki... YAMAGUCHI Akira,” Yamaguchi exhibits new works of art. He was inspired from the history of Oyamazaki. There was the Battle in Yamazaki between HASHIBA Hideyoshi and AKECHI Mitsuhide in 1582. Yamaguchi portrayed both of the samurai warriors in his new paintings. In Yamaguchi’s one of the main works of this exhibition, Last Supper, pensive Mitsuhide eats his last dinner with his comrade. Yamaguchi depicts Mitsuhide and his fellows in a very peculiar way, which may evoke the viewer something mysterious. His thirty-five works are disclosed in his first exhibition in Kansai.
